Yeah. That is similar to the swingset in our neighborhood. All mulch. Seems like miles to a three year old in a wheelchair.

You know, you have to seriously wonder what is wrong with the people in charge of these things. There really is no excuse for this poor planning.

In my neighborhood, we have this plastic ramp that sits atop of the bark mulch. Problem is, the bark mulch sinks and changes shape, so the ramp never lines up to the curb and is thus useless.

The other thing is, bark mulch is a bitch to get through in a wheelchair. They have that sorta hardish foamy stuff for playgrounds now, why can't they use it. It is great for wheelchair usage while still being soft enough to save a flying kid from a major head injury.

Same thing in our neighborhood! Same swings. I. don't. get. it. I want to take my kids to the park!

I am wondering why folks don't make a stink about these and get the mulch replaced?

In my case I have to tread carefully because we live in a very small town and my mother-in-law works for the city, where the politics are truly harsh. When she retires I'll probably start asking for more. Otherwise I'd be very pressuring about it.
