Disability Blog Carnival #79 is up NOW!

It's been up for a day or two already, but it's still fresh and worth a visit (or two, or ten). Check out the December edition at After Gadget, where the theme is "Disability and Occupy," and the entries are grouped to subthemes, like "Occupy Activists with Disabilities" and "Educating Occupies about Disability and Access Issues." (In case you think it might be all happy tales, there's also a section on "Exclusion and Alienation.") Also read through the comments for some additional entries. Carnivals that gather up links about current events are so valuable in shaping the ongoing conversation, and help bring attention to issues that might otherwise be dismissed as individual experiences. Thanks so much to Sharon at After Gadget for a fine edition.

Now to 2012! Would you like to host an edition of the Disability Blog Carnival in the new year? I'll take host offers in comments here; you'll also need to send me an email address or twitter handle so I can send you any reminders, schedule changes, or submissions. I'll keep a running calendar below, and fill it in as the slots are taken. If your name appears in the table below, consider that a lock--and start planning your edition!

Penny - I'd love to host again... I'm going to say that either June or July would work for me. Thanks for organizing this, again.

I'll put you down for June, NTE, and thank you so much!

I'll take May, July, or August.

I'll put you down for May right now, Spaz Girl, and thanks!

How's about giving me February? Thanks Penny

It's yours, Dave! Thanks for making the organizer job so easy, everyone!

Hi ... here is the Feb topic ...
http://www.davehingsburger.blogspot.com/2012/01/february-disability-blog-carnival.html

It's on 'loving' what makes accessibility possible ... feel affection for your wheelchair or your cane or your crutch or your elephant feet ... that's what I want to hear about ... much more explanation on blog link above.

Penny I'm getting precious little response, do you think you could post the topic explained in my comment above for people to be thinking. OR do you think that should wait until after the next carnival?

Hi Dave--I generally post the call for each month's carnival after the previous carnival, so that there's no confusion. So I'll make a post announcing the January carnival AND pointing folks to your call, very soon I hope!

But it's also true that there are fewer submissions to blog carnivals these days than before twitter, facebook, tumblr, etc. That's just the way of things. I usually suggest to hosts that they feel free to share links to any recent posts that strike them as worth sharing, especially if collecting them together highlights issues that would otherwise be obscured.

Can I please please please do July? I've never done a Blog Carnival before. This is so awesome! :)

I would love to have a go if there are any spots left. Thank you.

May I submit Riley's Smile to host if spots are still open please?

I'll happily do MARCH - what is involved? Do I think up the topic?

Stacie, I'll put you on for August right now, but if that's not a good month, just say the word.

I'll take October, I'll publish on the 23rd and the theme will be 'birthdays' ... birth of pride, birth of self awareness, birth of 'getting it', birth of adulthood, or birth birth ... whatever. So, I'm in.
